Steve & Jami have been blessed to grow up in Pierre, raising all three children here - Amanda, Annie & Joe.

Celebrating 32 years in marriage and the 50th year for their family business, they have always been proud to call it their home.   Annie & her significant other, Trandon and Joe all live in Pierre.  Amanda and her husband Adam and two children, Ava (8) and Nora (4) live in Sioux Falls.

Steve & Jami began their involvement with the Capital Area United Way in 2004, when they were asked to serve as campaign co-chairs.  Jami then served 6 years on the Board of Directors, and still serves on the events committee, as well as the youth booster club grant committee.  The work of the Capital Area United Way has been an inspiration to them both.  The 17 partner agencies it serves contributes to the well-being of thousands of people in our area with the over 50 programs they provide. The lives it touches is like no other organization you could be involved with.

Steve and Jami have worked to share the United Way message in their business and the community.  They’ve always encouraged their employees to be involved and have had a staff member serve on the board for many years. Their daughter Annie has just joined the board of directors, which makes them very proud.  Giving back through community fundraisers for families in need, Alzheimer’s Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness, Anti-Bullying has been a priority for the Beck’s, as well.

Along with the Capital Campaign, The Amazing Race, Girls on the Run, Dancing With the Stars, Say Yes to the Dance are just a few of United Way events they have had the pleasure of being involved with over the years.

“This is our home and our community. What we do for others matters. We hope you will join us in giving back, whether it’s your time - talent - or treasure. It all matters. Thank you for supporting the Capital Area United Way.”
